Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen has not played an NHL game since Oct. 10, 2015 due to head injuries.
Franzen, 38, remains under contract with the Red Wings after signing an 11-year, $43.5 million deal that runs through the 2019-20 season.
Franzen’s wife, Cecilia, wrote on her blog, franzenresidence.com, on Sunday that Johan has been receiving treatment at the Marcus Brain Health Institute in Denver. Here are excerpts from her blog:
“I don’t know where to start, but this week has been really hard and extremely emotional. Monday morning the kids, Lisa and I flew out to Denver to visit Johan.
