While the Detroit Red Wings are shut down (due to the coronavirus pandemic) until January, this month has rekindled pleasant hockey memories in the Motor City with the anniversaries of the Wings’ 1997-98 back-to-back Stanley Cup victories.
The 1996-97 Wings finished off their Cup — the first for Detroit since 1955 — with a sweep of the Philadelphia Flyers on June 7, 1997. And 374 days later, they won a second, sweeping the Washington Capitals on June 16, 1998.
