Now that Steve Yzerman is returning to the Detroit Red Wings, what imprint might he make this summer?
Yzerman will be named general manager of the Wings this afternoon, a source familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak told the Free Press. Yzerman takes over a team that has missed the playoffs three straight years, but which has a promising young core in Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha, Andreas Athanasiou and Tyler Bertuzzi.
Yzerman served eight years as general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning, taking over the role in 2010 and stepping back in the fall of 2018.
