TRAVERSE CITY — Frans Nielsen and Gustav Nyquist potentially stand to have greater impacts on the Detroit Red Wings this season, for different reasons.
With captain Henrik Zetterberg’s career over, Nielsen is a top candidate to join Niklas Kronwall and Justin Abdelkader as alternate captains. Like Zetterberg, Nielsen quietly does things right on and off the ice, and he wore an ‘A’ while with the Islanders.
