The Captain’s days are numbered.
That’s the way it feels with Henrik Zetterberg’s declining health, anyway.
Zetterberg, who has spent his entire 15-year career with the Detroit Red Wings, told the Free Press last week that he expects to miss the beginning of the regular season because of pain associated with an ailing back.
"I don’t want to think I have played my last game," Zetterberg said. "To me, it’s still early to say that. But obviously, I’ve been through this for the last few years, and I know it’s a thin line.”
The most optimistic outcome would be for Zetterberg’s pain to subside and set up a return at some point this season.
