Chicago — Justin Abdelkader and Mike Green say they will return to the lineup just in time for the Red Wings, who are a point out of last place in the Eastern Conference, to face the top team in the Western Conference, the Blackhawks.
And, at the end of the first half of a harshly disappointing season, the Wings got some other good news Tuesday morning: their forward Frans Nielsen is an NHL All-Star.
Getting players back from injury is a major development for the struggling Red Wings (17-18-5). They had lost the most games to injury in the NHL since the start of the season.
