DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today acquired a second-round draft pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and a conditional third-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for right wing Gustav Nyquist.
The conditional third-round draft pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft would become a second-round pick in the same draft should the Sharks advance to the 2019 Stanley Cup Final or should Nyquist re-sign with the Sharks. The Red Wings currently hold 10 draft picks for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, owning their own selection in each round in addition to the NY Islanders’ second-round pick (via Vegas), San Jose’s second-round pick and Columbus’ fifth-round pick.
