Pavel Datsyuk is awaiting paperwork before he officially segues into the next chapter of his hockey career.
“We are waiting on a transfer card from Arizona and we expect it to arrive shortly,” Dan Milstein, Datsyuk's agent, told the Free Press today. “As soon as we get that, Pavel will sign with one of the KHL clubs.”
SKA St. Petersburg is believed to be front-runner. Datsyuk is expected to sign a two-year deal worth 250 million rubles annually -- equivalent to $3.8 million.
The longtime Detroit Red Wings superstar was traded to Arizona on June 24, in a move that gave the Coyotes a way to inflate their payroll and gave the Wings room to make the most of theirs.
