Sunday marks the ninth anniversary of the Detroit Tigers’ Armando Galarraga just missing his date with destiny.
Galarraga retired the first 26 Cleveland batters he faced on June 2, 2010, before Jason Donald reached base when umpire Jim Joyce mistakenly called him safe. (Read more about it here.) Galarraga retired the next batter, for an “imperfect game.” Galarraga’s feat would have been the 21st in baseball history, with three since happening in 2012.
