Detroit – Johan Franzen's concussion symptoms have returned, and on Thursday the Red Wings placed him on short-term injured reserve. He will be out a minimum of seven days.
Franzen seemed rejuvenated, aggressive and happy through the first three games this season.
But he missed the last few days of practice and Coach Jeff Blashill said Thursday, after a practice at the McAnn Arena of the University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe that what was feared had come to pass.
"He's had a return of some of the headaches and some of the symptoms that he's had in the past," Blashill said, the concern evident in his voice and face.
