Filip Zadina still trying to show he belongs on Red Wings, not in Grand Rapids

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings are confident Filip Zadina will be a good NHL player, perhaps a great one in the long-term.

But, will he need to start the season with the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins?

Zadina has two more preseason opportunities to prove he is NHL-ready, including tonight at Boston (7 p.m., no local TV).

Zadina, selected sixth overall in 2018, has one goal and one assist, with just six shots on goal, in four preseason games. He had no points in Tuesday's 8-6 victory at Chicago, playing on a line with Christoffer Ehn and Evgeny Svechnikov.
