DES MOINES, Iowa — For the second straight game, Filip Hronek scored the overtime winner as the Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Iowa Wild 3-2 on Monday at Wells Fargo Arena.
With the goal, Hronek, who also provided the theatrics in Saturday's 4-3 overtime victory over the Chicago Wolves, becomes the first player in franchise history to record an overtime goal in back-to-back games.
The Griffins' win over the Wild (12-4-3-1) marked the fourth consecutive game in which Grand Rapids has gone into overtime or a shootout to determine a winner. The Griffins (10-7-0-2) have won in overtime in the past three games that have been decided in the extra frame.
