Reviving his NHL career is becoming a specialty for former Detroit Red Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek.
He’s currently a highlight story for the Carolina Hurricanes, propelling them to a Game 7 showdown Wednesday in their first-round series against defending Stanley Cup champion Washington. Yet last July 1, the Hurricanes signed Mrazek to be Scott Darling’s backup, taking a low-risk chance on Mrazek with a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
Mrazek had finished the 2017-18 season with the Philadelphia Flyers, who acquired him from the Wings Feb. 19 after losing both Michal Neuvirth and Brian Elliott to injuries over the previous two weeks.
