Dylan Larkin named grand marshal of Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix

Dylan Larkin accelerates like an IndyCar off the line. In January, the young Detroit Red Wings forward broke the 20-year-old fastest-skater record of Mike Gartner during NHL All-Star Weekend in Nashville.

So who better than Larkin to give the famous "Drivers, Start Your Engines" command before the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix?

While playing in the hockey world championships in Russia this week, Larkin was asked by Grand Prix officials if he'd serve as grand marshal June 4, which will feature Dual 1 of the Verizon IndyCar Series doubleheader.

Officials say that the 19-year-old Larkin, who was born in Waterford, raised in Clarkston and attended Michigan, jumped at the opportunity.
