The Detroit Red Wings have engineered a nice little surge in the NHL standings after bottoming out at 31st three weeks into the season. On Oct. 27 they were 1-7-2, tied for a league-worst 40 goals allowed and tied for 30th with 21 goals scored.
Now they’ve won four straight games and seven of their last eight to reach 8-8-2, have scored 32 goals during those eight games while allowing 20.
