Detroit Red Wings forward Darren Helm will miss a minimum of six weeks after suffering a dislocated shoulder.
An MRI Wednesday afternoon revealed the damage Helm suffered when he crashed to the ice during Tuesday’s 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning after being upended by Nikita Nesterov. Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said Helm does not need surgery as of now, but that could change depending on how he heals. At the very least, he is gone until January.
Helm had four goals and three assists and a plus-6 in 17 games.
“Helmer is a real effective player for us,” Blashill said.
