The Detroit Red Wings were dealt a huge blow yesterday by having to place forward Drew Miller on long-term injured reserve. Miller will be sidelined for at least one month, and possibly longer, with a torn meniscus.
The injury to Miller occurred during his first shift of the third period during Detroit’s 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night. Losing Miller’s invaluable presence on the penalty-kill as well as his shot-blocking presence on the fourth-line will be a huge loss for the Red Wings moving forward.
The injury is even more frustrating as it occurred in Miller’s second game back from missing 14 games after suffering a broken jaw on December 3rd.
