The Detroit Red Wings called up the speedy and talented Andreas Athanasiou last Sunday after fellow fourth-liner Landon Ferraro was injured during Detroit’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs late last week. Bringing up Athanasiou is a move that both the Detroit Red Wings and their fans should be very excited about. In only two games played, Andreas has made an immediate and undeniable impact on the Red Wings’ fourth line.
Andreas was a standout player for the Red Wings during their previous two prospects tournament in Traverse City. Last season with the Grand Rapids Griffins Athanasiou accumulated 16 goals and 16 assists in 55 regular-season games played with the Griffins.
