A couple former first-round picks helped the Detroit Red Wings put on another good effort.
Their Sunday matinee against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Little Caesars Arena was buffered by two empty-net goals that gave the Wings a 4-1 victory, their second in a row.
Filip Hronek and Vladislav Namestnikov scored 21 seconds apart late in the third period to improve the Wings to 12-20-4.
Michael Rasmussen, the team’s first-round pick from 2017, scored his first goal of the season early in the third period for the eventual game-winner. Evgeny Svechnikov, a first-round pick from 2015, scored in the first period.
