After two exciting games over the weekend Tuesday’s affair at Little Caesars Arena was more of a grind as the Detroit Red Wings hosted the Anaheim Ducks.

Jimmy Howard and John Gibson went save-for-save until two quick goals from the Ducks in the third period left the Wings little time to rally. They suffered their first loss of the season, falling 3-1.

Filip Hronek scored late in the second period. Dylan Larkin put the puck in Anaheim’s net midway through the third period after a nifty passing move down low by Tyler Bertuzzi, but the Ducks successfully challenged Anthony Mantha was offsides on the play.
