Red Wings react after winning 4-1 at Carolina. Filmed Dec. 20, 2018 in Raleigh, N.C.
RALEIGH, N.C. — The Detroit Red Wings showed resilience. Showed they knew they could be better.
They return home having earned a shot of confidence after finding a way to end a four-game winless streak. It took 38 saves from Jonathan Bernier, good performances from both special teams, and getting in the face of a former teammate.
That added up to a 4-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes Thursday at PNC Arena.
“Not our best start, they came out hard and we struggled with their forecheck, couldn’t get any clean breakouts and get any pressure on them,” Frans Nielsen said after contributing a goal.
