The Detroit Red Wings worked their way into the game, taking advantage of Jimmy Howard’s solid goaltending.
A two-goal deficit was leveled early in the third period Tuesday at Little Caesars Arena, with goals from Justin Abdelkader and Gustav Nyquist. The Wings pushed the Vancouver Canucks to a shootout, where Dylan Larkin scored in the first round and Howard secured a 3-2 victory with a save on Bo Horvat.
Building momentum
The Wings made it 2-2 at 1:37 of the third period. Jacob de la Rose fired a puck on net from the right flank and Nyquist tapped in the rebound for his second goal of the season.
