For the second time in his career, Anthony Mantha’s decision to drop his gloves is leaving him on the sidelines.
The Detroit Red Wings forward is out four-to-six weeks after injuring his hand while fighting. The Wings played up Mantha’s willingness to stick up for a teammate as the news broke Tuesday morning, but also acknowledged he will be missed.
“It’s a big loss,” linemate Dylan Larkin said after the morning skate at Little Caesars Arena. “It is unfortunate we lose one of our big scorers and offensive threats.
