The Detroit Red Wings have signed an insurance policy for Jimmy Howard this offseason. The Wings have signed a veteran back up goaltender Jonathan Bernier as healthy competition for Howard. “Howie” struggled last season but in his defense, at times he didn’t have much help from his teammates.
It seems when Howard is in the zone playing well he can be a difference maker but when he is fighting the puck, and struggling to remain dialed in it often gets real ugly. Two years ago Howard played well until the injury bug snuck up and bit him.
