In their final tune-up before the regular season starts Oct. 5 in Nashville, the Detroit Red Wings showed they still have a bit of work to do against one of the league’s up-and-coming teams. Five different Toronto Maple Leafs players scored in the Wings’ 5-0 preseason loss in Toronto on Saturday.
Jimmy Howard allowed all five goals as the Leafs peppered him with 29 shots over the first two periods. Four of the goals came on special teams in the second period, starting with Trevor Moore’s shorthanded goal just over six minutes into the period.
