We continue our series of articles where we highlight Detroit Red Wings favorites of yesteryear. While they bring a smile to our face, they didn’t do enough (or couldn’t) to have their number lifted to the rafters. Our suggestion would be for the Red Wings to create a “Hockeytown Hall of Fame.” Think Monument Park at Yankee Stadium–a room at the new arena–immortalizing former Red Wings with a plaque.
Today the following players will be “inducted”: Chris Osgood, Darren McCarty, and Brendan Shanahan.
Name: Chris Osgood
Number: 30
What qualifies him: Ozzie led the Wings to an NHL-best 62 wins in 1996, only to lose to Colorado in the conference finals.
