Much has been written on these pages about Daniel Cleary’s adventures in Detroit, but it looks like the 10 year saga is finally dragging itself to an unceremonious close.
A strong depth chart bolstered by young, exciting go-getters saw Cleary put on waivers by the Detroit Red Wings and subsequently reassigned to Grand Rapids. Cleary has refused report to the 2013 Calder Cup champions. So that’s that, no team picked him up on waivers and he isn’t playing in the minors. Cleary has effectively retired from playing hockey.
So what happens next? In the short-term probably nothing.
