The Detroit Red Wings twice pulled themselves within a goal, pushing to finish the game as well as they started it.
They came up short, though, against the playoff-positioned Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday at Little Caesars Arena, with their three-game winning streak ending in a 4-3 loss.
The Wings grabbed a lead in the first period on Gustav Nyquist’s 13th goal of the season but trailed by a pair of goals entering the third period. Michael Rasmussen converted on a power play to make it 3-2, but Brayden McNabb doused hopes of a rally with a goal at 11:07.
