Detroit Red Wings' Filip Zadina debut spoiled by Pavelski, Sharks, 5-3

The Detroit Red Wings were shown up by one of the better teams in the NHL.

The San Jose Sharks took over Sunday’s matinee at Little Caesars Arena about midway through, spoiling Filip Zadina’s debut as his parents watched from the stands.

The Wings wound up losing, 5-3, dropping to 0-3-2 their last five games.

It began encouragingly enough with the Wings overcoming an early deficit on a fluke goal to build a lead on goals from Darren Helm, Gustav Nyquist and Mike Green. But the Sharks ate away at their deficit and surfaced with a 4-3 lead after outshooting the Wings 16-3 in the second period.
