The Toledo Walleye and the Detroit Red Wings have signed a two-year affiliation agreement, extending through the 2017-18 season.
The Walleye has served as the Wings' Double-A affiliate in the ECHL since its inaugural 2009-10 campaign. Toledo first aligned with the Red Wings in 1991-99, then again in 2000-07 as the Toledo Storm.
"The hockey pipeline of Detroit, Grand Rapids and Toledo continues to be one of the best in pro hockey," Walleye general manager Neil Neukam said in a released statement. "We look forward at the opportunity to work with the Red Wings in continuing to develop future talent while providing competitive and entertaining hockey for the ‘FINatic’ fan base in Toledo.
