Evgeny Svechnikov is hoping to play in mid-March, which would be good for him and helpful for the Detroit Red Wings.
The Wings were hoping to get a better feel for where Svechnikov fits into the rebuild this season, but that plan was derailed when he suffered a knee injury during an exhibition game in September.
Svechnikov is at least now able to use his locker at Little Caesars Arena as he has begun skating on his own.
