Detroit Red Wings come up short in 3-2 loss to Nashville Predators

The Detroit Red Wings twice hustled within a goal but couldn’t finish the rally attempt.

An early deficit Tuesday at Little Caesars Arena led the Wings on the losing end of a 3-2 final against the Nashville Predators.

Andreas Athanasiou used his 11th goal of the season to edge the Wings within a goal midway through the game. Tomas Tatar made it a one-goal game in the third period when he finished Athanasiou’s setup. The Wings pushed consistently after getting outplayed the first 10 minutes, though two power plays were dismal. Jimmy Howard was pulled with 2:13 to go in regulation, and went on a power play with 27.
