The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed one of their most reliable penalty killers.
Drew Miller will be back on a one-year deal that signals that another of the team's forwards is unlikely to be back.
The move is not surprising -- Miller, 32, has been a stalwart defensive forward for the Wings since they picked him off of waivers from Tampa Bay during the 2009-10 season. He doesn't bring the offense he provided in his earlier years, when he contributed in the 10-goal range, but his speed is key to the penalty kill.
The Michigan State product was hampered last season by injuries, limited to just 28 games after a streak of 190 straight games.
