TORONTO — The Detroit Red Wings found a rare scoring touch and at times had the Toronto Maple Leafs on their heels, but it wasn’t enough to avoid a predictable result.
The Wings lost 4-3 on Saturday at Air Canada Centre. With the team eliminated from the playoffs, the Wings are best served by finish lower in the standings to gain better draft lottery odds.
The Wings had a good start and killed off a 36-second two-man Leafs power play midway through the first period, but fell behind 1-0 when Kasperi Kapanen had an open net at 14:30.
