Detroit Red Wings, Avalanche fight like old times in Colorado's 2-0 win

The Detroit Red Wings packed more punch with their gloves off Sunday than they did with sticks in their hands.

A chippy and fight-filled third period against an old nemesis, the Colorado Avalanche, woke up the crowd at Little Caesars Arena. The Wings' offense remained dormant, as they were shut out for the first time this season, 2-0.

The last time the Wings were shutout was March 22 by Washington.

Nathan MacKinnon scored the game's lone goal until Gabriel Landeskog's empty-netter, as Colorado improved to 9-0-2 over its past 11 games. The Avs also own the league's best road record at 10-4-2.
