The 2015-16 season was a season of growth for young goalie Petr Mrazek. With new coach Jeff Blashill at the helm, Mrazek saw his playing time increase and he thrived. Under former coach Mike Babcock, now with Toronto, Mrazek showed flashes of greatness but wasn’t able to earn the starting spot.
He outperformed his counterpart Jimmy Howard in many statistical categories and was visibly better. He finished the season with a stat line of 27-16-6, a .921 save percentage, 2.33 goals against average and four shutouts (career best). He also had a .633 quality start percentage. Mrazek’s positioning is top-notch and he always seems in control of games rather than playing catch-up.
