The Detroit Red Wings will have eight prospects representing five different nations participating in the World Junior Championship.
All of them might not reach the NHL, but it is another promising sign for the future and a credit to their drafting the past two years.
The tournament starts Sunday and concludes on Jan. 5 in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.
“To have eight players is a lot, and to have them diversified with the five teams is good as well,” Shawn Horcoff, Red Wings director of player development, said.
