Detroit assigns Andersson to Griffins

DETROIT – The Red Wings today assigned center Joakim Andersson to the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins.

Andersson has played 204 regular-season games for the Red Wings since 2011-12, recording 36 points (15-21-36) and 48 penalty minutes and adding seven points (2-5-7) in 22 career Stanley Cup playoff games. He has picked up three points (1-2-3) in 28 games for the Red Wings this season, adding six penalty minutes and 17 shots on goal. A veteran of 189 AHL games since the 2008-09 season, Andersson has tallied 101 points (38-63-101) in 189 career games with the Griffins and helped the franchise to its first-ever Calder Cup championship in 2012-13 with 27 points (10-17-27) in 36 regular-season games and eight points (3-5-8) in 10 postseason contests.
