Detroit 3, Winnipeg 2: Red Wings recover at home for much-needed win

Justin Abdelkader pumped his fist, his joy as tangible as the points the Detroit Red Wings finally got to bank.

The Wings rallied and redeemed themselves Thursday at Joe Louis Arena against the Winnipeg Jets, chasing an early deficit to come away with a much-needed 3-2 victory. That bought the Wings some breathing room after a three-game losing streak had left them close to teams chasing a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Abdelkader was alone in front when he took a pass from Tomas Tatar and threw the puck behind Michael Hutchinson to give the Wings their first lead of the game, with 4:36 left in regulation.
