DETROIT - Making the jump from major juniors directly to the NHL is difficult, especially for a defenseman, but Dennis Cholowski might have the mobility and puck-moving ability to do it.
The Detroit Red Wings' top draft pick in 2016 has the confidence, which is the first thing coach Jeff Blashill has noticed.
"I think he's at a real confident spot with the puck, he's got great puck poise," Blashill said. "He's got real good ability to make plays with the puck, both passing the puck out of his zone and scoring from the offensive blue line.
