Datsyuk OT goal lifts Wings over Stars

Dallas – Andreas Athanasiou has been pretty good since being recalled by the Red Wings, but Monday the rookie forward took it to another level.

Athanasiou scored twice in regulation, but it was old pro Pavel Datsyuk with the game-winning power-play goal in overtime as the Red Wings defeated the Dallas Stars 3-2.

BOX SCORE: Red Wings 3, Stars 2 (OT)

Datsyuk scored at 2:33 of overtime, after Gustav Nyquist drew a hooking penalty on former Red Wings prospect Mattias Janmark.

Vernon Fiddler tied the game 2-2 for the Stars with 1:31 left in regulation after the Stars pulled goalie Antti Niemi for an extra attacker.
