SUNRISE, Fla. – Pavel Datsyuk had surgery on Friday to repair ruptured tendons in his right ankle, general manager Ken Holland disclosed as the Red Wings prepared to settle in to BB&T Center for the NHL’s annual amateur draft.
The Red Wings’ star center, who will turn 37 years old next month, will be in a cast or some other form of immobilizer for the next 4-6 weeks.
“At around the three-month period we’ll re-evaluate and see where he’s at,” Holland said. “Once we get into the middle of September, the start of training camp, we’ll see where he’s at.
