Chris Chelios tabbed as Team USA assistant coach for 2018 Winter Games

Chris Chelios was a four-time Olympian during his playing career.

Now, for the first time, the former Detroit Red Wings defenseman and assistant coach will serve as an assistant for the U.S. Olympic hockey team.

USA Hockey announced the coaching and management staffs on Friday for the 2018 Winter Games, which will be hosted in PyeongChang, South Korea.

University of Wisconsin head coach Tony Granato has been named head coach. In addition to Chelios, he'll be joined by Fenton native Ron Rolston, Keith Allain and Scott Young. Jim Johannson, who is assistant executive director of hockey operations for USA Hockey, has been named general manager.
