Calder Cup Final: Nosek scores winner with 14 seconds left; Griffins take 1-0 lead

Tomas Nosek scored two goals, including the winner with 14 seconds left in regulation, as the Grand Rapids Griffins beat the Syracuse Crunch, 3-2, in the first game of the AHL’s Calder Cup Final.

Nosek opened the scoring at 4:56 of the first period and sealed the game with a score at 19:46 of the third at Van Andel Arena.

Nathan Paetsch also scored for the Griffins, finding the net at 17:12 of the second period.

Jared Coreau made 22 saves as the Detroit Red Wings’ top minor league team took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven championship series.
