Zach Gallant wasn't sure what to expect during his first year in the Ontario Hockey League.
It turned into a learning experience and that showed on the stat sheet as he failed to score a goal in 51 games. That was after the Peterborough Petes selected him fifth overall in his OHL draft year.
But Gallant's rookie year in the OHL was far from a waste.
He learned plenty and the result was 21 goals among 47 points in 60 games last season, prompting the Detroit Red Wings to select him in the third round (83rd overall) of this year's NHL draft.
