DETROIT – The Boston Bruins claimed forward Landon Ferraro off waivers today from the Detroit Red Wings.
The Red Wings needed to make a move because Ferraro is close to being cleared medically from a knee injury he suffered on Nov. 6 and their 23-man roster is full.
They opted to keep center Joakim Andersson, who despite being a frequent healthy scratch, gives them another penalty killer. Tomas Jurco, assigned to Grand Rapids last week for a conditioning stint (maximum two weeks), still counts toward the Red Wings' roster limit.
Ferraro will be back in town with his new team Wednesday, when the Bruins visit Joe Louis Arena.
