Hockey is a sport that doesn’t make a lot of sense sometimes.
The latest example is what happened Sunday at Nationwide Arena, where the Blue Jackets somehow upended the Florida Panthers 5-3 despite being outshot 50-23 and struggling all game just to get the puck out of their own zone.
A huge reason for it, literally, stood between the pipes in the Columbus zone. That’s where 6-foot-5 rookie goalie Daniil Tarasov used every inch of his wingspan and leg length to make 47 saves for the second win of his NHL career — including 17 against 18 shots in the first period to keep it 1-1.
