Blog: Wings tied at second intermission

The Wings registered 10 scoring chances and outshot New York 16-7 in the second period. The game is tied 1-1 at the intermission.

There was an ugly sight in the final minutes: Rangers center Eric Staal dropped to the ice and lay motionless for several moments after a faceoff in the Wings’ zone.

Staal appeared to have his neck jolted in a jumbled collision when teammate Jesper Fast tangled with the Wings’ Kyle Quincey.

Staal, 31, skated gingerly off the ice. The 12-year NHL veteran has 322 career goals in 909 games.
