BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Two people familiar with the Buffalo Sabres coaching search have told The Associated Press that former San Jose Sharks coach Todd McLellan and minor-league coach Luke Richardson are among the team's initial candidates.
Neither has been interviewed yet, and the list is expected to grow in what is anticipated to be a lengthy process, both people said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Sabres are not commenting on their search to replace Ted Nolan, who was fired a day after the season ended.
Red Wings coach Mike Babcock could become a candidate if he does not re-sign with Detroit.
