RALEIGH, North Carolina — Anthony Mantha wanted more freedom, and set about to make it happen.
Amid a tough season for the Detroit Red Wings, one of the key blocks in the rebuild is on pace for a career season. Mantha is solidifying himself as a consistent scoring threat because of his one-timer. It’s hard and it’s accurate, and it’s impressing those who have seen Mantha since he first came to the NHL.
“His shot sticks out to everyone,” teammate Justin Abdelkader said after Friday’s 7-3 loss to the Hurricanes at PNC Arena.
